---------------------------------- of Jean Bugatti, the T.55 Supersport combines both performance and esthetics. Its construction is a jigsaw of elements of other Molsheim machines pieced together on the chassis of the 16 cylinder T.47. Upon this, Jean installed a 2.3 litre engine with a gearbox already made for the T.49. The T.43 axles were fitted with the superb T.51 aluminium wellbase Grand Prix wheels and a new radiator was designed in the traditional Bugatti fashion.

----------------------------------frame was grown one of the purest, most perfect bodies in automobile history; an intemporal work of art that has often won the roadster the title of most beautiful sportscar of all time. The shape is simple and flawless, in essence one majestic sweeping movement from head to tail. Even the doors are suppressed to allow the cockpit to follow the dominant lines. The effect is highlighted with a recess in the bodywork permitting a contrasting color scheme. Not a curve, not a line, not a proportion deviates from perfection.

--------------------------------------------------the car was a credit to the Molsheim team. A surprisingly nimble acceleration easily established cruising speeds of over 110 mph, making the T.55 probably the best sportscar of its day. The Supersport made its first appearence in 1931 and only 38 cars were built, including the coupé version and a few privately bodied cars. It remains an exceptional jewel in the crown of some of the most important collections the world over.
